If you have declared a
major within the
College of Arts & Sciences, paid your
tuition deposit and completed your
Orientation Data Form, your next step is to complete our
online pre-registration tutorial. At the end you will fill out a form which generates an email to this office indicating your completion of the assignment. You will also be directed to call this office to set up an
appointment with an advisor.
When you call, please identify yourself as a new freshman. We will arrange a meeting with an academic advisor, either in person or over the phone, to discuss your classes for the spring term. The advisor will then enroll you in classes and mail you a schedule.
Before your appointment you should review online information for
new freshmen, including information about
registering for classes and UB's
General Education requirements. After you receive your schedule you can review your required textbooks online through
the UB bookstore's website and, if you desire, purchase them from any source. Or you may choose to purchase your textbooks after you get to UB.
During the advisement appointment you should tell your advisor about all the AP classes and exams you took in high school, even if UB does not yet have the scores. If you have not previously arranged to have your
AP exams scores sent to UB, please do so as soon as possible. Your advisor will discuss with you how your
AP and other exam credit will count at UB. We can advise and enroll you without the scores, but knowing what they are makes the process more efficient. Also be sure to let us know if you have any incoming transfer work.
